DOB stands for Date of Birth. On school admission and examination forms it is one of the most important fields, because age on a cut-off date decides eligibility for a class under rules such as the Right to Education Act, and because it is printed on certificates. A proof of date of birth, such as a birth certificate, is usually required at admission.
In Indian schools
Because so much depends on it, a date of birth has to be captured once, accurately, and reused everywhere rather than re-typed. On RaivatEdu it sits on the single student record, so admissions, documents and certificates all draw on the same value.
