EWS stands for Economically Weaker Section — a category for families below a defined income level. In school admissions it is central to the Right to Education provision under which private unaided schools reserve a share of entry-level seats, commonly 25%, for children from EWS and disadvantaged groups. Eligibility is established with an income or EWS certificate issued by the authorities.

EWS admissions add a parallel, document-heavy intake that a school must run fairly and be able to account for. Capturing EWS applications in the same admissions pipeline as every other inquiry — with documents and source kept — is exactly what admissions software is for.
