D.El.Ed is the Diploma in Elementary Education, a two-year teacher-training qualification for teaching at the elementary level, roughly Classes 1 to 8. It replaced the older D.Ed in many states and is regulated by the NCTE. It is the common qualifying route for primary-school teaching posts, where a B.Ed is aimed more at secondary teaching.
In Indian schools
Like any teacher qualification, D.El.Ed matters when a school hires, not in its day-to-day system. The institutes that run D.El.Ed courses handle their own admissions, fees and certificates — the learner-lifecycle administration a training system supports.
