NCF stands for the National Curriculum Framework — a document developed by NCERT that guides syllabi, textbooks and teaching practice across Indian schools. Earlier versions appeared in 2000 and 2005, and a new framework has been developed to align with NEP 2020, including a dedicated framework for the foundational stage. It shapes what is taught at each stage and how, which boards and states then build their syllabi around.
In Indian schools
The NCF influences curriculum and teaching, not a single school's admissions or fee desk. Whatever framework a school teaches to, the office still enrolls students, collects fees and keeps attendance — the work a school management system supports.
